Quashquai
Explore the captivating Quashquai rugs, where rich textures and vibrant colors create beautiful floor coverings. Influenced by diverse cultures, these rugs are both functional and artistic. With intricate patterns and craftsmanship, they complement traditional or contemporary decor.
Add warmth to your living room, elegance to your bedroom, or flair to your hallway with Quashquai rugs, enhancing your home's aesthetic with lasting comfort and style.
Qashqai rugs are woven by the nomadic Qashqai confederacy of southwestern Persia and represent some of the finest Persian tribal weaving. The Qashqai are semi-nomadic pastoralists who have roamed the mountains and valleys between Shiraz and the Persian Gulf for centuries, and their rugs reflect a way of life in which weaving is both practical craft and cultural expression.
Lustrous wool, rich reds and blues, and designs built around stacked diamond medallions, boteh motifs, and stylized animal figures distinguish the Qashqai style. Each hand-knotted piece carries the spontaneity and individuality of true nomadic craft.
Antique and vintage Qashqai rugs are prized by collectors for their vibrant color, fine knotting, and the authentic story embedded in every piece. A closely related sub-type is the Kashkuli Gabbeh, woven by Kashkuli clan weavers within the Qashqai confederacy, which brings a bolder, more graphic sensibility to the same tradition.
At First Rugs, our Qashqai collection is selected by Ali Khaledi — a fourth-generation rug dealer from Shiraz, at the heart of Qashqai country — for quality, originality, and exceptional color.
