Vintage Persian Tafrash Runner Circa 1940

About Tafrash Rugs

Tafrash rugs are woven in the village of Tafrash in the Markazi province of northwestern Persia. They are best known for their fine, densely knotted construction and geometric all-over patterns, often rendered in a distinctive palette of deep reds, blues, and ivory. Long runner formats are typical of the Tafrash tradition, making them particularly well suited to hallways and galleries. Their tightly woven wool and vibrant geometric character reflect the strong village weaving heritage of western Persia.
