About Bijar Rugs
Bijar rugs are woven by Kurdish weavers in northwest Persia and are famously known as the "iron rugs of Persia" for their exceptional density and weight. Tightly hand-knotted and remarkably durable, they often display the classic Herati pattern in deep reds and blues. This sturdiness, paired with bold tribal-influenced design, makes Bijar carpets both beautiful and built to last for generations. Antique examples are highly collectible and well suited to rooms that see daily life.

First Rugs sources each Bijar rug individually, so no two carry quite the same weight, pattern, or hand. This vintage piece's generous 9x12 size makes it a strong choice for a living, family, or dining room, where its dense wool pile can be fully appreciated underfoot. As with any hand-knotted rug, gentle regular vacuuming and a professional cleaning every one to three years will preserve its color and structure for years to come.
