Hand Knotted | Wool
Vintage ~1970
This Persian Heriz runner is a study in geometric confidence — the kind of rug that anchors a hallway or kitchen and only gets better with age. Hand-knotted in wool from the Heriz region of northwest Iran, it carries the bold angularity and saturated field color the style is known for: typically a rich brick red or terracotta ground punctuated by an ivory and navy medallion and corner system.
Heriz rugs are woven with an unusually dense, durable pile — village weavers who knew their rugs would see generations of daily use. The result is a piece that ages gracefully, its wool gaining a natural patina that no new rug can replicate.
Each rug at First Rugs is individually sourced — no two are alike. Natural variation in color, pile, and patina is part of what gives hand-knotted rugs their lasting character and investment value.
