About Tehran Rugs

Tehran rugs represent a brief but celebrated chapter of fine Persian workshop weaving, produced in Iran's capital primarily in the early twentieth century. Production was limited, making genuine antique Tehran carpets scarce today. They are known for finely knotted, densely detailed floral and medallion designs, often in soft blue and ivory palettes with delicate cloud-band motifs. The refined, precise hand-knotting reflects a short-lived but highly skilled workshop tradition. Their rarity and craftsmanship make antique Tehran rugs a distinctive find for serious Persian rug collectors.
