About Talish Rugs

Talish rugs are woven in the Talysh region of the southern Caucasus, along the Caspian coast where present-day Azerbaijan meets Iran. They are best known for their distinctive long, narrow runner format and spacious open fields — often plain or lightly decorated — framed by richly patterned borders of geometric and floral motifs. Deep indigo, madder red, and ivory are characteristic colors. Antique Talish runners are highly collectible for their graphic simplicity and the serene, architectural elegance their open design brings to a hallway or gallery space.
