About Farahan Rugs

Farahan rugs are antique Persian carpets from the Arak region of central Persia, woven a generation before the renowned Sarouk and Sultanabad styles that followed in the same district. They are prized for finely drawn Herati and floral lattice patterns, often in deep indigo and madder-red grounds with exceptional wool quality. Their tight, precise hand-knotted weave and graceful, all-over designs set the standard later Arak weavings aspired to. Antique Farahan carpets are rare and highly collectible, valued for their early craftsmanship and refined, traditional Persian character.
