Antique Persian Serapi | #231107 | 13'5" X 16'
Antique Serapi All Over Medallian Circa 1880
A lobed, well filled ivory sub field is centered by a bold dark blue medallion and palmette pendants. The red corners mimic the medallion. The narrow red "turtle" palmette border barely contains the energy of the field.
About Serapi Rugs
Serapi rugs are the most refined antique weavings from the Heriz district of northwest Persia, produced largely in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The name denotes the finest, most decorative Heriz pieces, distinguished by spacious geometric medallions, soft rust and terracotta grounds, and ivory and sky-blue accents. Their bold yet gentle palette and durable hand-knotted wool have made them enduring favorites among collectors and interior designers, prized as both art and investment-quality furnishings.
