About Doroksh Rugs

Doroksh rugs are woven in the Khorasan province of northeastern Persia, closely related to the Mashad weaving tradition centered in that region. They share Mashad's characteristic large-medallion floral designs and rich madder-red palettes, distinguished by the particular village and workshop character of the Doroksh area. Hand-knotted in lustrous, durable wool, antique Doroksh carpets are prized by collectors for their formal elegance and the warmth of color that deepens beautifully with age.
